Re: Murandy seems the best guess for Demandred... Light in the Night Send a noteboard - 03/11/2009 10:33:51 AM
In WH, when Roedran is gathering his army, Demandred says he is very busy. It also fits with his report ot Moridin in TGS, prologue, that he is gathering and will be ready (e.g. the Borderlanders are already gathered; I also don't see Demandred wanting to stay in Far Madding). Against Shara or Seanchan speaks especially that Demandred apparently didn't have the resources to rescue Semirhage. Besides that, we see Demandred wearing clothes of a noble in TGS, which might also point to Roedran's court. Murandy is strategical advantageous, at least if you want to attack Andor (Taim's cronies could help Demandred).

Besides that he likely controls Dragonsworn in the west, especially was behind Masema.

The main problem with this is that Murandy has always been a fractious country, and Roedran couldn't control much of the lands that Murandy lays claim to. (Reminds me of Queen Tylin in Ebou Dar.)

Not only that, Roedran had to hire the Band of the Red Hand to help run out the bandits and Dragonsworn. If there is an army in Murandy, it would appear to be of negligible size, especially in comparison to other armies wandering the Westlands. I think Demandred would have gathered something larger than what you'll find there.

Oh, and Slayer killed Asmo. Probably on Graendal's orders. If Graendal had been the killer, BS had certainly revealed it in her last PoV.

I never liked Graendal as the killer. (Of course I have kept my own suspect to myself  ) I seem to recall RJ saying he would have Asmo's murderer have a pov revealing the deed if he could fit it in. Do you remember where it was he said that? Perhaps provide a link? Thanks Michael.
