Hinderstap...the power of aridhol? Sidious Send a noteboard - 02/11/2009 02:45:33 PM

Mat and friends visit Hinderstap. At night the place becomes rabid and the villages kill each other brutally. In the morning they are fine in their beds, but the village is damaged. They cannot escape and even if they try, they wake up in their beds the next day.

This is a further machination of the Dark One and his touch on the world, and his effect on the Pattern. I was wondering whether this could also be the power of Aridhol at work, for the following reasons...

1. Hinderstap is built on the old country of Aridhol. There are ruins nearby where the Queen of Aridhol once presided over a fortress.

2. Mat hasn't thought of his dagger since he was freed of it, or he rarely does. He suddenly feels the pull of the dagger in this area.

3. The townsfolk kill one another, which was typical of the evil of Aridhol which caused the population to destroy themselves. They kill interlopers too, but they ignore animals.

I'm sure this is the Dark One messing around, but I was wondering if the shifts in the Pattern would be particularly violent and perhaps merged with the evil of Aridhol in this area.
