I mean sure, we'll have to wait and see for the next book, but I expect to see a very different Rand.
I dont think he's rabid as you say, he's been trying to be something he isn't, and in the end almost destroyed him. He understands himself now what everythings about. The last two chapters were as good as anything in the series so far for me.

I breathed a giant sigh of relief at the last chapter. I couldn't take much more of that Rand, or books 8-11 Rand.
I think at the start of 12 we'll have book 8/9 Rand, and then Moiraine's return and finding out about Elayne's pregnancy will bring back likeable Rand.
