This is what Lanfear did when she was posing as Else Grinwell. None of the Lightsiders know the weave, or even know that it's possible, though.
I don't remember if RJ said if we've seen Mesanna's alter-ego, but I'm pretty sure he said that we weren't supposed to have been able to figure it out by ourselves. So, having an unknown name would be plausible, if a bit boring.
Alviarin saw brown embroidery on Mesanna's dress that one time. So, for lack of anything else to go on, I assume it's Nelaia, the Brown. This also fits with Mesanna's scholarly nature.
