Egwene being tortured, humiliated, and nearly killed wasn't enough for you? I for one think she is what she is and a heroine nonetheless.
She is a stout hearted Two Rivers folk. Asking her to be not self-righteous (when she is in the right) is like wanting Mat not be a a rebellious, irresponsible "cool" character, or Nynaeve to be so stubborn, Perrin slow, etc.
Rand has big burdens, lost loved ones, lost a hand, almost went psychotic from mistreatment by Elaida's AS. But he still acts like a fool. So why not hate on him? But I don't, and I don't expect others to either. He has enough problems.
Why are you singling out Egwene? I understand if you just don't like her character, but you shouldn't (and thats a collective you to all Eqwene haters) be saying stuff like that when the character is not even that faulty. Sure the current Aes Sedai aren't that great, but it's what the world has, and they are doing what they do for the betterment of mankind. Boo on you. Off to the boo box with the lot of you.
You know who REALLY needs to be put in his place? Mat! He's been strutting around the ENTIRE series so far without any repercussion from his irreverence and insulting manner to others. Let's see. He has the knowledge of every general who ever lived, he has natural, UNEARNED skill with fighting that even bested Gawyn and Galad. He is lecherous and insulting to women. He gambles and drinks to run away from responsibility. And this is the character almost everyone loves to near death over a girl who is responsible, loyal, and genuinely nice? IDC if Mat's nice at his core, if I had a friend like him around me, I'd beat his ass up and tell him to man up, grow some balls, and fracking rescue Moiraine already. He's a ****ing lazy piece of ****.
Sorry if my rant went downhill there, but I'm tired of the Egwene bashing. I'm merely balancing sh*t out with some Mat hate.
