Secondly, Egwene didn't ask them to swear oaths on the Oath Rod. So there is a vast difference.


Given that they have sworn the three oaths (unless of course they are BA), they can't break those oaths, making it the same as swearing on the Oath Rod.


Now. They're not nearly as binding. Sure, they have to follow them but they can be easily release from them without use of the power and without severe pain. The Oaths are pretty permanent really. Not completely, but pretty damn close.
