Theory: Rand and fulfilling the prophecies Night Walker Send a noteboard - 28/10/2009 06:59:52 PM
This is more speculation then anything.

The Seanchan believe they have to make Rand kneel to the Crystal Throne, while Rand believes he must bind them to him.

Based on the events of tGS I think that Rand can fulfill both prophecies by kneeling to Tuon. At the start of Winter's Heart the "poem" refers to the two hands , we take from this that one of those hands is Mat. Since mat is the "Dragon's hand" marrying the Daughter of the Nine Moons is like Rand binding them to him. So I believe Rand will find out Mat is married to Tuon, and then decide to kneel to her in order to achieve peace and finish binding the Seanchan to him. Why would Rand do this (1) to ensure he leaves something behind, (2) he saw the effectiveness of the Seanchan empire in Ebou Dar at creating order, finally (3) he wants peace and a united front before the Last Battle.

It should be pointed out that no where in the prophecies does it suggest Rand will rule the Seanchan, and binding someone or something does not explicitly place yourself over them.

Like I said, this is all speculation but I can see Jordan/Sanderson trying to find a way to fulfill both prophecies just to keep us on our toes.
