- Her final test was obvious. Maybe I have read too many stories about individualistic egalitarian barbarian cultures and mystic societies, but as soon as Aviendha revealed the nature of her trial in her first PoV, it was clear what the Wise Ones were getting at. In every appearance she made, I was yelling at the book for her to fight back. Aside from trying to help the Tower sisters argue with Egwene, this was the only thing that made me go that far.
- In addition to Min finally realizing what a liability she is, she does some good by pissing Aviendha off enough to take her promotion. "I can deal with useless shaming labor, but not if I have to listen to Min blathering at me on top of it!"
- Best line of the book: "...not all wetlanders were soft and weak. Just most of them."
- She should be glad Rand does NOT see things as an Aiel. Otherwise she'd be in for a rude shock when she came to him as a Wise One.
A: "Now I can finally be with you Rand al'Thor. You know that a woman must bring enough honor to a marriage to be worthy of a man, and I am now a Wise One!"
R: "Yes, that is true. As Chief of Chiefs, I eagerly await the day you are promoted to Wise One of Wise Ones so we may be truly equal and consumate our relationship!"
Ah, Aiel! The hubris is what makes them so cute.
