Most of you have not read the book yet. But when you do you will see a woman that has gone to the wall for the good of the world, the sacrifices that Egwene and others make to cleanse the tower and make it whole cannot be discounted by anyone that have even a shred of objectiveness in them. The Gandhi like courage that Egwene shows in her fight for the heart and soul of the Tower that she cannot be bent,
Gandhi was an ass & something of a pervert, who ceded the moral superiority to his adversaries by admitting that they were NOT evil and appealing to their better natures. Egwene's tactic was purely passive-aggressive behavior intended to make herself look like the vicitm, in a situation where her choices were severely constrained. She held on for the sole chance she had of getting more power. If she had taken easier paths, she would have ended up with significantly less power. She took risks and endangered all that she sought to save because she stood to make enormous gains by it. and she cannot be bowed. And the wrath, organization and righteous vengeance that she shows when she almost takes on the entire the entire Seanchan attack force while drugged with Fork root with nothing but the novices for support can only be admired.
SHE FINALLY FIGHTS!! Whoop de do. She FINALLY does what EVERY significant character does, when they come after her, with plenty of forwarning. She was only drugged with forkroot, because she was trying to manipulate her guards. If she had not been so eager to impress people and make Elaida look bad, she could have had a pair of full sisters and NO drug-impairment. Do not discount the Inn keeper’s daughter, because she DOES MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
Yeah... she made the Seanchan's profit slightly less... She didn't stop them or foil their plan (not that she could have been expected to), she merely awed a pack of admitted incompetants in a fight while praising herself to the skies. At the end of this book she has united and cleansed the tower of the Black Ajah and now has them preparing to meet their Ji’e’toh to the world and more importantly to Rand.
SHE has done NONE of that! VERIN was SOLELY responsible. But Egwene knew what to do with those names that were provided.
THIS is praise-worthy?!?!? She did NOT fart around and TOTALLY screw up, and you are praising her? This is like praising her for coming in out of the rain after lightning strikes the people standing next to her!!! There was no dancing around, there was no hand washing, there was no “Moghedien part II” escapes for them.
Because there was no gain for Egwene in keeping them around. Verin had eliminated any potential gain or incentive to keep them for questioning by compiling her dossier. She let the majority of them slip through her fingers, though. Egwene stilled them, and executed them. She was hardened by her time spent with the Aiel. She did not blink, she sent them to meet the Headsman.
If she needed ANY special training to do the bare minimum right in this case, she has far more serious problems than even I have attributed to her. This was nothing special - it was what she SHOULD have done! What Egwene did, had to be done. And without the Aes Sedai whole, cleansed and behind him, Rand cannot win the final battle. Without Egwene; Rand cannot win.
Prove it.
