Same problem here. I did manage to get my brother hooked though and he only ever gave up the German ones when the wait for KoD was too much. As it is for tGS. Why isn't Amazon.de shipping them yet?? Are they telling you it won't arrive before next week, too? *sob*
Aside from my kids, none of my family (all overseas) will read it - not into fantasy, and most don't have good enough English anyway. I did get my father to read the first two books some years back. Given he is near 89 yo, I doubt he'll be into restarting a giant 12+ book series, typeset with tiny fonts, though he did enjoy Harry Potter, so maybe there is hope... WoT can be a good distraction during these long 3x/week kidney dialysis sessions...
My 21 year old son introduced me to WoT years ago (here is hope for all you guys and gals trying to get mom to read it!), but totally gave up on it after CoT. I think I am making inroads on getting him to read KoD and TGS though.
I've been reading WoT to my 11 year old for over a year (minus sexual scenes, not that there are many :-)). We are midway through book 11 - perfect timing for book 12 to come now. He loves it by the way, though it would be too involved for him to read and comprehend on his own.
