28 Taisham, 997

Narg tired. Long day today.

Got in fight with Marla. Marla mad she have to stay home and watch kids all time. Narg remind Marla she stop working to spend time with kids. Marla still not happy, say it my fault. Big argument, things broken. Sigh.

Couch for Narg tonight. Narg need apologize.


1 Jumara, 997

Good news! Narg got promotion. Now in charge of hunting party for cave. Big raise.

Told Marla sorry, brought Blight-flowers, told about promotion. Marla happy - not even notice Narg forgot milk again. Marla make new recipe tonight, called "coconut creme pie." Yummy. Narg like coconut.


3 Jumara, 997

Vlja daeg roghda! Very bad day. Narg drafted!

Narg try make appointment talk to Myrddraal tomorrow. Try to get out, get conscientious objector status.

Narg talk to Mom today. Mom happy, always want Narg go in military. Narg try explain that military not best way to do things, diplomacy good. Remind Mom that Dad dead somewhere in Kandor. Mom still no get it.

Narg hope he get out of it. Narg no want hurt.


8 Jumara, 997

Narg go to recruiting office today, talk to Myrddraal. No go well.

Narg try tell Myrddraal that no want hurt people, is conscientious objector. Myrddraal say no can do nothing, is order from top. Myrddraal then imply that Narg scared to fight.

Narg get angry. No good. Now definitely no get out of army. Stoopid Narg.

Narg no want leave Marla, Billy, Susan, Natasha, Matthias, Sandra, baby Pete. Who take care of family when Narg gone??

Marla sad, make coconut creme pie. Still yummy. Narg sad too.


14 Jumara, 997

Narg exhausted! Basic training start today.

Myrddraal very mean, make Narg and others run, crawl, climb. Make fun of Trollocs go slow, no do well. Use whip lots. Owie.

Narg try suggest Trollocs do better when treated nice, no use whip. Was made run 100 laps around camp. Maybe Narg keep mouth shut now on. Stoopid Myrddraal.

Narg go to sleep, get up early tomorrow.


6 Saban, 997

Still training. Narg sore and tired, but feel tougher.

Learning sword, noose-stick, other weapons. No much strategy, just hit things. Narg wonder out loud why no learn sword forms, real training. 100 laps around camp again. Narg no think Myrddraal like him.

Narg still no want hurt. Narg learn everything, but Narg try get things changed. Stoopid military.


23 Saban, 997

Basic training over! But already fist have mission. Narg and friends no get rest. Narg tired.

Fist leave tomorrow for place called Two Rivers. Sound pretty. Narg nope no have to fight.


25 Saban, 997

In nasty place called Ways. Very dark. Narg no like.

Passed other Trollocs today. All dead, turned to stone. Very scary.

Narg want go home.


27 Saban, 997

Out of Ways! Narg happy. Not dark anymore.

Strange place. Trees all green, not pretty colors, all look alike. No move, even. Very quiet. Is creepy, really.

Secret mission soon. Narg sleep so ready for tomorrow.

Narg miss coconut creme pie.


28 Saban, 997 (Winternight)

Violence. Narg no like this at all.

Mission tonight - break in house, catch hoo-mans. Should be easy. No easy. Frank knock too hard, break down door, hoo-man throw hot water in eyes and stab him. Not nice!! Other guys get mad, break in. Tom and Barry get stabbed too. Hoo-mans get away out windows.

Myrddraal very angry, say it our fault. Narg try explain Frank just too excited, but Myrddraal no want hear it. Myrddraal take other guys out look for hoo-mans.

Not Narg. Narg stay. Narg smart.

Myrddraal only want talk to hoo-mans. Narg tell hoo-mans no be scared, be nice to hoo-mans. Narg fix everything by self.

Narg smart. Narg no hurt.
