Hardened Air is a weave that has been employed by channelers in the Wheel of Time universe on numerous occasions. Essentially, the channeler thickens the air around the target until it solidifies into a hard casing. The best example that I can cite would be the weave that Liandrin used to bind, gag and disarm Jaichim Carridin.
