Asmo went over to the DO almost entirely for the lure of immortality (also because he believed the DO would be victorious, and, due to his cowardice, will always side with whomever he believes will give him the greatest return, not necessarily what he believes in). His own personal beliefs are more or less irrelevant to his devotion to whichever side he's on.
His love for the finer arts remains unaffected, regardless. We know he hasn't spent his time since release plotting and scheming, because that's not what he really cares about. He goes along with Lanfear's schemes because he hasn't much choice, and he has to do something to keep the Great Lord happy.
