As I already said above... - Edit 1

I think military knowledge or tactics won't be that important at TG. It becomes pretty clear that the DO's touch (which will certainly become a hard grip on the world soon) will further shake the Pattern, creating more and more natural catastrophes, deadly weather, diseases, hunger & thirst, "impossible deaths", ghost appearances, eternal night, maybe in the end the DO will even have the power to block the access to the OP, etc.

This will generally lead to starving, hopeless, devitalized and demoralized troops on the Lightside. There will likely also be some mistrust among the Lightside armies, because a certain percentage of followers are DF, who will of course further sabotage, e.g. by arsons, assassinations or poisoning the water supplies. The DO's touch might generally strengthen the "bad" emotions in people like in the AoL, so that riots might occur among the Lightside.

In this situation the Lightside will face millions (?) of motivated, deadly monsters from the Blight (some Shadowspawn we probably don't even know about yet). Besides that, there are of course the human followers of the DO, especially the Forsaken, Taim & his cronies, the BA, plus powerful players like SH or Slayer, who can easily take out important people on the Lightside.

That means TG will be a chaotic nightmare, not a military campaign. The Light, all that is good will literally just be a memory to mankind then. Therefore the Light has to gather as much hope and order as possible. In this respect - besides Rand, who will directly fight the DO - the Lightside needs charismatic leaders like Logain, Egwene, Lan, Tuon, Galad and of course the other ta'veren, who will give the people a spiritual example and a little bit hope. Of course, ultimately only Rand can find the lucky punch to defeat the DO and thus win TG.
