He is essential in helping the main body of the WC force to realize that they have to join up and fight the SHADOW. Not Rand, not the Seanchan, not the White Tower. While they may hate the witches, and detest Rand for channeling, and be seriously pissed at the Seanchan for taking Amador, they have to admit that NOW is the moment for which they have held themselves ready. They have to carry the sunburst banner into the Last Battle, or the whole organization has been for absolutely nothing. I think Galad is the only person who can reconcile most of them to this truth.
