I clearly am not a Clinton supporter, though I thought her treatment by the DNC was unfair in '08. But I also don't have a whole lot in common with a lot of the conservatives here. TyrReborn is the only one I can think of among the people I have caught agreeing with me on politics AND this particular character.

Also, a lot of us are foreign devils, so I am not even sure how their politics would translate from their world-views. For instance, I am given to understand that traditionalist-minded people on Taiwan tend to be more sympathetic to the Chicoms, where as the liberals are more opposed, because of their relative affection for the mother country. Whereas in the West, traditional sorts of people tend to be conservative and vehemently anti-communist. So it isn't even as simple a question as going around asking "Left or Right?" "Pro- or Anti-Tower?" Joel was a staunch anti-Egweneist, but we could barely be civil when discussing politics. There is no doubt in my mind that the same perspective which informs my politics also informs my view of the Tower, the Aes Sedai and to a large extent, Egwene, but it doesn't necessarily work that way for other people.

I remember on wotmania, someone posted a specious comparison between Egwene and Caesar Augustus, someone else responded "Don't let Cannoli hear you say that" but I completely agreed, and gave all the reasons why I disliked Caesar as well, and how I saw parallels between Egwene and the man who completed the transformation of a constitutional republic into an empire, where power was more likely to change hands with a coup than an election.

I guess it's all in what you see.
