Carrying out a punishment because its convienent doesn't make it right. It boils down to a case of becoming no better then your enemies. Aridhol learned that lesson the hard way.
And what is wrong with stilling? It is not a bad thing. I was not advocating kill on sight, and I was fairly sure that my reference to the ability to Heal severing made it clear that I mean this tactic is acceptable NOW that it is a temporary restriction/punishment. If it can be so easily undone, what is the problem? Is robbing them of their free will by Compelling them with the Oath Rod to serve and obey their captors worse than taking away their ability when the ability to restore it is generally known? Severing someone now that it can be Healed with no permanent loss is no more immoral than taking away a knife or sword from a captive.
