Heh, you realize you're also quoting Elayne?
View original postConsidering I'm one of the few people to consistently defend her, that shouldn't be too much of a surprise.

She was thinking exaxtly the same about the female Queen's guards - the ones with no previous training were learning to use a sword faster. RJ would of course have known that about the military.
I don't see how it would have applied here, though. How much civilian experience would anyone have with a sword? How would boys have picked up much different habits than girls? Some of the Queen's guards were Hunters or guards, others bouncers.
View original post For the most part, the more militaristic the WoT culture, the more chauvinistic in its protection and exemption of women from military activity.
The Seanchan come to mind.
Yeah, but it still doesn't explain the sparkers, or lack thereof
True. I like the idea that they are the ones who end up overseeing Tar Valon. Though that would only apply to some Ajahs, like Gray or Yellow. Can't see the Greens or the Reds taking up civil service.
Noticed something odd

I think it's RJ's gender commentary - Blue are ambitious, which is not a stereotypical female trait

Technically men would only be a threat up to a certain age(which they should know) unless trained..

The Seanchan are not a military culture. That's why they are so good at it.

Forget the "locals"... IIRC Aes Sedai have kids "rarely" not "never".

I think the numbers of Aes Sedai mothers really are very very low, or secret
