Fair enough, given those were the options, then yes I think either option was valid, and the option chosen the best thing for everyone involved, and the more selfless, especially as there is now potential that being burned out can be cured. I think I can see why Cannoli has a differing view on this one, but can't agree with him myself on this one.
Being burned out has no cure. The Companion says Nynaeve wasn't able to heal Setalle. Not that any of this seems to be a factor in Egwene's decision.
Another rubbish thing is that Vora's wand didn't have a buffer. It's actually retarded and not much more than for plot value. I have strong doubts that any sa'angreal would pass quality control without a buffer.
Callandor lacked a part of a buffer that allowed the taint to be magnified. I suspected years ago that this meant that it was TP sa'angreal, but even Callandor is safer than Vora's wand.
Another point is that if Egwene matched Taim exactly then Vora's Wand is stronger than Sakarnen, which is also kind of strange considering the massive emphasis placed on even Callandor. It makes even less sense then that she couldn't shield him.
