I think this right here sums up all of my problems with BSand... yes, the Wheel of Time is a deus ex machina, but the whole point was that things still happened naturally. This quote is the most painfully unnatural thing in the entire series, and that's saying a lot.

I mean, in the first place, why would anyone nominate a Sitter who would agree to something like this? These are supposed to be brilliantly shrewd politicians, and they seem to be 8 year old retarded children.

But then, when that same affliction has similarly lobotomized every other character in these books, I don't know why it really surprises me.
