Ugh... - Edit 1

Look, I enjoyed the story itself rather well, but by any objective measurement, the BSand books were much, much worse.

The characterization was all wrong. The editing was terrible. Plotlines that should have been resolved were ignored.

tGS was decent, but apparently over half of that book was actually written by RJ.

ToM was just, just awful. Seriously, I've listened to it twice, and both times(and my initial readthrough) have been painful experiences, and if I wasn't obsessed with this series I don't think I could do it.

aMoL was... decent. I enjoyed the initial chapters, and I enjoyed the scenes with Rand. Beyond that, I may have enjoyed one or two scenes dealing with Mat's actual planning and execution of the war. But for the most part, the actual people, the threads in the Pattern, were ignored so we could get hundreds of pages of some fanboi saying 'ohmygosh you guys there's so many trollocs and HEY LOOK THE GOOD GUYS ARE KILLIN' EM!'

It did not read at all as the final book in this series should have.

I will give you that the last couple RJ books were a pain to read through, but that was because he had soooo much groundwork to lay for the finale. Crossroads is painful, and yeah, he fluffed it a good bit, but KoD really started picking up, especially in the second half, and everything was in place to really have a fast paced and enjoyable finale.

I'll echo Cannoli's sentiment in his post earlier today; fuck amyloidosis.
