I really do wonder how this parallel never occurred to Jordan. Egwene was his favorite. Surely no writer would want their favorite to resemble Adolf Hitler?

Is this true? Not to say I doubt you, but hadn't heard this one before, and helps highlight a concern I have.

I can enjoy Egwene's passages now, viewing her as a character that is unlikeable, but doing what the pattern required to get the White Tower to where it needed to be for the last battle.

Thus I see that Egwene was written deliberately to be arrogant, hypocritical, arguable evil in order to achieve what was required.

What worries me sometimes is the thought that Jordan didn't intend / see this as being the case, but believed that Egwene was a genuine heroine / character to admire, which really doesn't seem to be the case, as Cannoli's project amply shows.
