Interestingly, after listening to the Gathering Storm, Egwene states that she was suspicious of Sheriam at this time, and I thought that didn't quite sound right, so thought I would check this one
Probably just Sanderson getting it slightly wrong, but could be viewed as Egwene rewriting history somewhat to maker herself look better
There's a bunch of stuff like that, where you wonder if the nincompoopery should be blamed on Egwene or on Sanderson. There are blatant examples of Sanderson getting things directly wrong (compare Mat's note to Nynaeve & Elayne in aCoS with the one he sent Elayne in ToM, or Perrin in KoD doubting Grady's claims that saidin is clean, and then in tGS or ToM, when Grady says the same thing, Perrin replies, "If you say so, that's good enough for me!" although maybe it had something to do with him almost certainly getting laid in between those two discussions), but also there are those revisionist traits of Egwene, and sudden reversals to claim the moral high ground, often with her asserting completely opposite stances in the same conversation.
