As per your example, no one can deny that the Forsaken are evil, or that Mat is the shortest of the Two Rivers men, or Nynaeve is the oldest of the Two Rivers folk. Even if one has the opinion that Mat is opportunistic, some explanation as to why his actions may be considered in that light would seem to be called for. Hence this post.
