We all have different opinions and personalities. I read these books and put a liking to the characters based on how they resonate with what I prefer in a story or the characters. Mat and I got almost nothing in common, I still like him as a character, but would probably not be friends with him in real life because there is too much separating us personality-wise. I would be much more in home with Rand and Perrin because they are more like me.

For certain reasons I prefer some Forsaken over others, all of them got traits that I either like or dislike and based on that I decide wether I like them.

This is very much a subconscious thing.
In the beginning we didn't know much about any character. By lets say book 7 we knew enough of most major characters in the series to decide wether we liked a particular character over another. But the thing is, that decision had been building up by each novel. It's not something you decide when you reach book 7, you decide gradually as the story progress.

The Quickpoll cannot take every complex detail about the characters or the readers relation to them into consideration.
Some people will reach book 7 and think of Mat as a hero, or a loyal friend and some will think of him as some whiny kid.
Same goes for Rand, Perrin, Ishamael, Graendal, Ingtar, Fain, Elayne and all of them.

We all have different opinions on what we like to see in a character! There is nothing that decides that we need to think of a character as a set certain something. The characters are described in the books, but we create them in our minds.
