The detail RJ put into this relationship in his notes is very demonstrative of why we should be happy this detail wasn't in the books. He went on about how Therava dominates Galina, which is weird for Galina because she is usually "a top". (As if she didn't have greater concerns.) RJ gets enough criticism about his weird ideas on gender and sexuality already; stuff like this would have made it much worse. And of course, there's tons of detail on his lesbians but still no gay men.
