.....and were grateful to have them come out, but once again, it didn't seem what was meant to be. The Last Battle and Rand/Dark One storyline was very good, but the final book really highlighted the fact that much of the series was pointless. And this includes some big storylines.....Asmo's death, Moiraine's return, even Lanfear's return was underwhelming since she was sucked into the Perrin arc, which was dull.
I think if WOT was compressed to 8 books, it would have been a masterpiece that would be talked about well into the next century, like Tolkien.
Oh well, such is life!

View original postJust like the books themselves. The excitement and passion for them were long, long gone by the time AMOL came out. I think BS did the best job possible, but obviously it wasn't "right".

View original postI'm not sure why, but I suspect that it was a scale problem: since the scope and the importance of the events went higher and higher as the series progressed, the difference between the end and the previous books was so big that I can't help but feeling the simple events at the beginning as almost irrelevant in comparison.
