I ignore things I don't like from canon all the time. It'd only be relevant if we were expecting some kind of sequel and wanted to make sure that material wasn't included, but given that this is a completed work, it doesn't change anything to anything.

The first rule of being a ninja is "do no harm". Unless you intend to do harm, then do lots of harm.
