View original postFollowing the end of Egwene's stuff in tGS, Butler's going all over the top on how awesome Egwene is, and then attempts to deconstruct the distaste for Egwene. I do think that even the rabid Egwene fans on this site would accuse me of that kind of arrogant condescension towards them. I might call an idiot an idiot, but I don't go so far as to explain away their reasons for liking a character and then proclaim what is wrong with those reasons.

View original postThe meek may inherit the earth, but you’ll note that that trait did not even remotely apply to their spokesperson.
View original post(Humble? Sure. Meek? No. No one who mouths off to every authority figure in earshot and physically throws people out of temples can sanely be described as a “meek” person.)
View original postButler compares Egwene to Jesus, who claimed to be God. Regardless of your religious beliefs or historical perspective, if you are citing the events of the gospels, as Scripture or mere literature, you have also accept the claims of divinity made in those same gospels.
View original postButler is saying Egwene is like someone who claimed to be GOD. And she still doesn't get the problem with Egwene? See, in the gospels, the people who heard that claim and did not believe, picked up rocks to stone Jesus, because that is an entirely appropriate response to someone who falsely claims divinity. The whole point is that Jesus was NOT falsely claiming this, so the tables are flipped. But it is only with that consideration that justifies the sort of behavior Butler is attempting to excuse in Egwene.
View original postI kind of love her hysterically ironic self-blindness.
View original postThis Butler woman sounds like an idiot. Egwene was never meant to be a Jesus figure, let alone a God figure. Having power and then martyring yourself doesn't automatically put you in Jesus class.
View original postEgwene isn't even a good feminist. She actually sees some value in men.
View original postAnyway, if this woman claims that WoT is sexist, she's never read the series. If anything, its the most matriarchal series ever written, with a bitch factor of 10 and a horde of wimpy boys for men.
