I found the little tidbits of background nice, and certainly gave Bao a more interesting character than any of the other chief antagonists in the series. I had a pet theory of mine axed, that being that an evolved jumara was a Dragon, but I still got to see one on the page, so that was fun.
Overall, I found it not much better than a cursory glance at things going on elsewhere, and because of that, I completely agree with Sanderson's decision to remove it from the book. It would have been simply frustrating to be removed from the greater goings-on, would have killed the narrative tension of Bao's appearance, and overall just peeved readers to find out that there is a whole other series' worth of information that we missed out on.
Nevertheless, it was a fun and brief last glance at WoT, and I took it as such. Not much else to be said about it.
