As we have seen in many instances there is no fool proof way to accomplish something with the OP

The warding is probably inverted, considering Taim can't see it. It's attuned to Demandred and if the flows are directed at him, the ward activates and kills the user. It could be similar to the ward Rand wove around Callandor, promising a nasty surprise to someone who tried to take it.
But then the question is, what does it mean that "the flows are directed at him"? Channeling in his general direction? That would be inconvenient if Taim was directing his flows towards somebody standing between him and Demandred. And how is the direction of channeling even determined? Many complex weaves consists of load of threads twisting around each other, pointing all over the place.
and there a thousand ways around what seem to be even the most ironclad weaves. I'm sure given time Taim could have found a way around the binding, but experimenting can be deadly ... He may well have been asking himself the same question you keep posing and likely coming back to the conclusion that he wasnt willing to die trying to figure it out.

I got the impression that "binding" allowed Demandred to take control of the Power being Channeled
