Well, it reads much like contemporary American English in its social registers and use of verbs as nouns and vice versa. Doesn't make it good, but it does seem to appeal to those who speak in a similar fashion.
It's way too "modern" and colloquial for most Fantasy. It's one aspect of secondary worlds Sanderson still has a great deal to learn about.
This is really the main thing about Sanderson's writing that bugs me. His writing has a certain "modern" informality and levity to it that sometimes doesn't match up well with RJ's writing, and it can occasionally stick out like a sore thumb. But it also feels wrong for fantasy. Fantasy is a genre where it seems to be tricky to get the writing just right, colloquial writing always feels off, but I've read stuff that had archaisms that were used poorly and dragged down the work as well (this includes some of the early Conan stuff RJ wrote, but he at least developed a good style by the time he got around to WoT).
I don't let it get to me too much. I've seen the RJ = Plain Chant, BS = Common cracks, while they're occasionally funny, I don't like to bash BS too much. Whether BS is bad writer or not, RJ spent more than 20 years of his life on the work, and knew what he was doing with it. BS doesn't know RJ's world that well, nor would I ever expect him or really any one else to. I can accept the mistakes.

There was a HUGE goldmine of complexity that RJ planted in the story that BS just completely ignored *NM*
