A misconception that the fact Shai'tan who didn't observe closely enough thought Lan dead and gloated about it, but Rand looked more closely and noticed he was still alive meant that Rand has done something to resurrect Lan, presumably.
My memory isn't great on this point, I'll have to re-read, but might it be implied that he saved Lan, his former teacher? Would definitely fit the narrative.
