Personally I found the entire Horn subplot with Faile to be unnecessary, ditto the stolen seals. Not bad exactly but in an already absurdly long final book-turned-trilogy I think the loss could have just been accomplished by having Egwene have both at the WT command post and having them fall into enemy hands or just get lost when Demandred showed up with the whole damn Sharan army. A rescue or recovery operation then would have fit a lot better and felt less shoe-horned. Hell it would have made Gawyn's death more logical and less forced if Demandred had them and Gawyn felt the Blood Knife rings might have granted him the chance to rescue them.

Honestly, the Bloodknife rings just seem to be something BS added.

Aside from the whole "dagger using, magically stealthy assassin" thing just being so him, there's also the WOG of RJ saying that the Seanchan could only make a'dams.

Don't really care if it is the case, but that's how it feels to me.

It wouldn't surprise me if BS made them though they fit the Seanchan. I didn't expect Egwene to die in the series though so I'm glad Gawyn managed to get a separate and significant death scene and I think the blood knife material gave them a good sub-plot and device to accomplish that. I tend to assume RJ left a lot less hard and fully constructed material for BS to work with then is often assumed and I wouldn't be surprised if BS got 'Gawyn saves Egwene from assassins' with little other detail to work with and had to construct something plausible.
