It made an entire people of humans the enemy. It denied them the choice to fight for the Light - a choice everyone should have had. In a way I can't fully articulate, I vehemently object to that plot decision.
Well actually it made a few hundred thousand people, out of the second biggest empire in the world, into the enemy.
We still have no idea what was actually going on over there, all we know is that they've been having a civil war since... Well, almost all the books.
We don't even know that the ones who came won it, just that he decide it was time to use them to attack the forces of the light.
