Unusually, not a single mention of pillow friends in AMOL.
Just "Boom - here's a gay man. BOOM -here's another".
After years of it being slightly more subtle, pillow friends took me a while to work out (but then I was quite young), Sanderson just banged us round the head with it. Well done that man.

I'm so sick of it all, I could throw up. "Oh noes, we've never shown a gay man! We must make one, for no reason whatsoever, so that we will be politically correct!!!"
The Aes Sedai pillow friends thing served a purpose because it is part of the culture - the WT denies adolescents the ability to even be around men lest they give in to their primal urges and stop seeing men as tools and human shields, so all those hormones have to be put to use *somewhere* (it's no wonder the largest Ajah is the Red - the Tower tries its best to breed man-hating, militant feminist, butch lesbians - or that Greens are man-collecting dominatrices, since that is a good way to 'rebel'. But the random "here's a gay man!" crap is ridiculous since it's quite obvious it only got trotted out to satisfy all the people whining because they hadn't seen a gay man yet and wanted to feel validated by a stupid work of fiction.

That you're offended at gay people for having the temerity to exist is hilarious.

Nothing she said indicated that; she only objected to throwaway characters for the sake of gayness.

That you jump to the conclusion that I'm offended by gay characters is both laugable and sad...

Why would Narishma be a good gay character?

Culture plays a role in how people see homosexuals, not in there being homosexuals

I didn't say anything about that. I said that culture plays a role in determining sexual expression.
