That's because you see it as a leash... Onarishma Send a noteboard - 03/12/2012 10:45:17 PM
I honestly don't recall one way or the other, and just assumed Warders were screwed in that respect along with all others, so if you have a quote, please point me to it.

There is also Elias who is technically still a Warder

Does he really mask the bond, though? I can't remember any reference to it. I know Rina let him go and didn't try to chase him down to force him to return to her, but I figured they still sense each like any other Aes Sedai/Warder pair would.

As such, I thought it was the nature of the bond itself that kept Warders from being able to mask their end of the bond (the person bonded is very much in a submissive position with no power whatsoever in the arrangement). I figure Min could probably learn to do it if she practiced long enough. I picture masking the bond almost like the way channelers ignore the heat/cold...it's something non-channelers could do if they trained and understood the concept. However, given the nature of the bond, I would think that the masking can only be done by the one who holds the leash, so to speak.

I don't think its the nature of the bond. the bond is a shunt of power and emotions. When a Warder is bonded he and the AS become one. She stores the OP in him which is why he has the increase in health and extrasensory perceptions and why when she is desparate she can draw that stored power from him. When a channeler is the bondee he has his own source of power the bond is just emotional and while I'm sure she can draw power from him I'm doubtful that he would ever be in danger of beign sucked dry like a non-channeler. When you comprehend the natur of the bond as a shunt of the Power then only those who can control the power can control how they experience that power. Min will never be able to mask her bond anymore than she could channel or draw power from Rand into herself.

Only the ability to control the bond is in the hands of the bonder and I believe that no one who can channel can be compelled with the basic weaves. Just with the weave with the added on Compulsion.
