but Verin has her ways, I wouldn't be surprised if she managed to pick it up from whomever did find it after the battle and left it for Rand.

Not very likely. It's very doubtful Verin even knows it exists. Rand had it in one scene with her, but he kept it well hidden in his pocket, and he did nothing notable enough that would have tipped Verin/Alanna he had an angreal.

Even if she did learn of its existence (from a captured sister she compelled later), the WO didn't find it among the captured AS's possessions (they were all disarmed/looked at for weapons). Only the Rebels group who swore fealty on the spot escaped that treatment.

Galina had the Amyrlin's authority over the sisters, she was almost certainly present when the AS went through Rand's things, and if she wasn't present she almost certainly got handed a suspected angreal/ter'angreal for man, to give Elaida (it was in Rand's coat they took away from him. He had it on when he was captured, but was in his shirtsleeves later, when in the box).

That's why Rand never found it. He looked in the wreckage of the wagons, when it was in Galina's saddlebag, on her horse that got killed away from the battle site, in the direction the Younglings and some Shaido had retreated to.

I think RJ didn't intend for anyone to have found it. He meant for the angreal to have gotten lost (a plot device to show again Rand's paranoia/mistrust was growing).

But Brandon in a discussion/Q&A let slip he had always been fond of that angreal.

My prediction is that in absence of any mention of anyone having the angreal in the AMOL outline, Brandon found a way to make it return, deciding that one of the Asha'man inspecting/securing the area after the battle found it in Galina's saddlebag, didn't know it was Rand's, and decided to keep it for himself and hide it, knowing if he told the M'Hael he found that, Taim would ask to have it. In time, like Rand had done, he figured out how to use it.

There's one Asha'man we know was at Maradon and it's one whom Brandon seems all too fond of (he likes to use "new" minor characters, it's much easier for him to write them when he doesn't have to make sure he doesn't blunder and get minor details of their backstory wrong. He makes that effort for more important secondary players, but if he did that for all tertiary players it would take him a lot of time), and with what he's about to do, that character could really use a secret angreal. I think Brandon decided it's him who found the angreal in Galina's saddlebags: Naeff.

My prediction is that this is a Naeff POV, as he tries to accomplish the mission Rand gave him to spy on what's going on in the BT.

Verin gave him the fat little man angreal (or at least it's location) I guess - 26/11/2012 06:10:58 PM 1412 Views

Like I said, Naeff is certainly possible here - 28/11/2012 01:33:42 AM 617 Views
