, Shai'tan transmigrated the soul of a human channeler into a Myrddraal to give it the ability to use the TP and make it a physical vessel to use.
I thought he took a Myrddraal and made him a direct extension of himself i.e. his essence is in the Myrddraal. I took Hand of the Dark to be quite literal. Its basically the Dark One walking around in a limited and perhaps diminished form. In many ways I think SH is the most powerful thing walking the world.
It's essentially that, but the DO's powers over the physical world are limited, and the less control he has the farther away from SG.
Brandon confirmed Shaidar Haran's power to interact with reality are limited, that's why he needed Elza.
So far no being who isn't a channeler has been able to use the TP, Aginor himself confirmed Myrddraal can't have the ability yet Shaidar Haran can channel the TP, which baffled Aginor when he did despite his knowledge then of what SH claimed to be. The DO is known to be able to transmigrate the souls of captured human into bodies, and RJ insinuated (I'm still not convinced he wasn't simply joking) Shai'tan made a few attempts before he got Shaidar Haran "right".
There's a mechanism of some kind involved, otherwise why not take over Moridin?
I figure I have one last chance to get out my underlying assumption on the series
