Re: Barasine + Katerine isn't that much less than Sidious Send a noteboard - 20/11/2012 05:31:50 PM
Why're you ignoring the fact that by the middle of the night, Egwene would be forkroot free, and yet Barasine would be enough to hold her? Why ignore your own quote, where Barasine continued to hold the shield on Egwene even when Egwene had been forkroot free for days?

Because two women can hold anyone (see Vandene/Adelease etc), but they add a third to hold Semirhage for caution's sake. Egwene can be held by one woman who knows what she's doing, once again proving to you both in the midst of your chaos that Egwene isn't close to Forsaken strength. Its fantastic when squabbling sinks your own theories :P

2 Middling Sisters and Daigian. Egwene, per the author is 1 step below the Forsaken ... why is this so difficult to accept? Why do you need her to be so much weaker than them? The evidence in the books supports that she is much stronger than even the strongest AS and not that much weaker than Nynaeve ... I just don't understand this stubborn refusal to accept the obvious. There is only one quote in the entire series that can even remotely be construed as there being a wide gulf at that is widely considered to be hyperbole (Bonfires and Candles).

I do accept it. I merely think that the gap is not what you think it is. Nynaeve is 90, Egwene is 60, Moiraine is 30. Those are the three steps.

The three girls have been in awe of Nynaeve's power since they could channel, always amazed at what she could pull into herself, and never saying that they would be there one day. At the same time, Egwene says that only Nynaeve can match the Forsaken despite being very strong at that time. It implies a gulf. I don't need anything. There is Rand and Nynaeve and the Forsaken, then down a category we get Egwene and the other girls, then we get all the Aes Sedai. Just like RJ said, but definitely categorized. You're trying to put Egwene into a category that she doesn't belong.
