I kinda felt the same way about his use of "squished" in the first paragraph of the book. meh *NM* Bookwyrm Send a noteboard - 21/09/2012 06:49:58 AM
Of all the Sandersonisms we have had to become accustomed to in the past 2.1 books, that one is the absolute worst. I have seen it in other authors who have been unable to narrate in a suitably archaic voice (Goodkind comes to mind), but it's even worse with WoT, because it pretty much flies in the face of all the difference-between-sexes thematic stuff in the entire series. It is awkward, it is stupid, it is anachronistic, and more than any single other difference from Jordan's writing, it yanks you out of the story!

This is the fruits of a generation of political correctness - simpleminded people who are so conditioned to reflexively be gender-inclusive that one such is unable to break the habits when attempting to write a book series set in a different era of societal development, or when attempting to be true to the spirit of a writer he claims to respect.
BOHICA - Go ahead, ask me what it means.
