So I've just finished my ToM reread (though skipped the earlier books for now) and one thing that has always slightly bugged me was around how Moiraine and Thom got together.
There was clearly foreshadowing for the reader via Min's viewing of Thom reaching into the flames and pulling out Moiraine's jewellery, and Moiraine's comments about knowing the face of the man she would marry, but I never really got the sense as a reader that these two had "chemistry" during the earlier parts of the books.
From the scene where Thom reaches through the white mist, burning himself to rescue Moiraine in the Tower of Ghenji it's clear that he cares for her but it's pretty late in the overall story. By the time Moiraine asks Thom to marry her following the Tower of Ghenji rescue, I tended to agree with Matt's WTF reaction. i.e. where did that come from?
I started to wonder whether Moiraine just married Thom because she was told by the Aelfinn that she was destined to do so?
Perhaps I missed something?

There was other foreshadowing through the series when they interacted and spoke about one another. *NM*

Essentially, you're just pointing out that Jordan wasn't the best writer in the world.
