i disagree with your second point, mainly because of what was found at the bottom of the well

2. Based on what I said, I think the Eye was intended for Rand to use to "touch" the DO (or, rather, hold him back) when he goes to remove the Bore. I say 'remove' because I don't think it was meant to be sealed...at some point in time, and I believe this is that point in time, the Bore has to be "healed", so to speak, so that it no longer exists (although I don't see this being an instantaneous thing and it may take time for the Pattern to heal completely, but that is for another discussion).
the dragon banner, the horn of valere and one (or two?) seals were found at the eye of the world, which says to me that whomever created the eye thought that the dragon would need its power during, not at the end of, the 'final' struggle. why only call the heroes of legend as the bore is being resealed, likewise, why give the dragon the seals (the rubble that has to be cleared) after he's started to clear the rubble? i always thought that the eye was created since the original channelers knew that the dragon would have to safely access saidin, despite the fact that all men now go crazy, but that its purpose was meant to be vague. the only conclusion that made sense was that the dragon would need these things on the way to the battle since the eye was always found in the blight....
i do like the idea that a well is a safe way to touch the DO without fear of a backlash/counterstroke though.

I like it, though I wonder if it would work.

I don't know... how can you cover an infinite source with a finite taint?
