I have no idea how he got involved in doing it- as far as I know, that's the only audiobook series he does- but he is really, really good.
I suspect WoT might not be that great for audiobooks. I love WoT, but it does tend to meander at times. And yeah, the choice of narrator is definitely crucial.
Just saying, don't give up on the format altogether.
