She's already gone from Caemlyn at the timeof the attack, at the meeting in Merrilor Cannoli Send a noteboard - 29/02/2012 05:29:27 PM
Was reading KoD the other day, and one of the things that kept jumping out at me was Min's vision, and how Elayne keeps using it to put herself in harm's way with little caution. Indeed she keeps insisting that no harm will come to her until the babes are born. I got the suspicion that RJ was giving us a little hint, and couldn't shake it out of my head.
She could also be doing exactly what a sane person does when they receive such a guarantee, and others are using invalid & unfounded concerns for her safety to interfere with her job.

With the imminent attack of Caemlyn by Shadowspawn coming in aMoL, can it be possible that Elayne won't survive? If the Trolloc horde overrun Andor, it would give the Shadow a prime foothold in the heart of the westlands. Knowing Elayne, she would probably insist on standing her ground during the invasion rather than fleeing the city via gateway. But still she must survive to fulfill the vision of the three women on a boat (unless one of the three is not elayne). Now even if they don't manage to fend off the Shadow army from Caemlyn, that leaves Min's vision of Elayne's twins. Do we know how far along she is in her pregnancy? I kept getting the feeling that RJ was alluding to her dying in childbirth, but it might also just mean nothing. What do you guys think?

It's possible she could die in childbirth, but that does not invalidate the viewing. I don't think there's any foreshadowing one way or another. I think all that RJ is trying to do is pile difficulties on her to make the struggle for the throne all the more frustrating for her, and demonstrating how she plays by rules, even when she does not have to. Just as she could use her One Power advantages to win the war without violating the letter of the Three Oaths, she also could blow everyone off, but tolerates an unprecedented level of security despite a having a certain assurance of survival for nine more months. I think that's all that was going on. There are too many other things suggesting her survival to assume some perverse surprise twist on the viewing.
