Thx!
As from the chapters I reference, the Dremaspike has a range of 4 leagues and Caemlyn-BT are 2 leagues apart. So there are 2 leagues = 8 miles left to cover Caemlyn... even in RJ units (mile=km?) it's enough.
I've the impression it'll be simultaneous. Don't forget Lan in the Blight... that's a great chaos. The BT is also worth recovering. That's why I am thinking the Light will split efforts.
BTW - TV is Mat's to tackle. Moreover, the WT is a tough nut now, even with Amyrlyn and Hall + TV's army away; over 1000 new novices, trained for months to make defensive circles... and those in the Tower have fought already.
That's the point (BTW, it's Moridin in charge at this time). Rand wants to go to Shayol Ghul and end it there. Moridin wants to drag him back in a melee in the land.
He'll keep the bulk of armies (maybe) to go north, some piece (Elayne, Logain, Perrin?, ...), will have to go to Caemlyn+BT. The other Southern town are not under immediate threat - unless Caemlyn is lost, then they all are lost.
Can't wait for that book...
How large is Caemlyn? It'd be surprised if 1 dreamspike can cover the black tower and the whole city of Caemlyn too. More likely it can reach one corner of the city closest to the black tower.....So not much use is restricting travelling.

I guess the questions are if the Seanchan attack TV at the same time, then which do the light forces go for first? Surely saving as many chanellers is a higher priority....

It's also been speculated that whilst Rand has emptied most of his cities of troops Demandred will simultaneously attack each vulnerable city with Shadowspawn. Leaving the light with all their forces in the field, whilst their homes are pillaged.

Rand will want the combined forces of the light to stay together and to go north, for a massive attack/diversion while he sneaks round the back for the real battle with the DO. After all, if he agrees to let them go rescuse Caemlyn then why not Tear and Cairhein and Illian too.......
