(or be taught) who they are and what it means to be Aiel. I do like your analogy, but i think the Aiel will be more like Rand and Perrin and have to remember what they are fighting/existing for. They have to come to terms with who they are now and who they are going to be going forward. Just as Rand can't be the mild mannered farmer, and Perrin can't have a nice quiet life as a village blacksmith. Neither can the Aiel continue to live by the hard rules of the waste.
It's going to come down to Rand and the WOs. He needs to give the Aiel something, and the WOs need to accept, and have their people accept, the fact that the women taken by the Seanchan are never coming back. Those who have been broken to the collar don't want to be anything other than Damane.
