Maybe there is a strain on the chaneller to balance it out

RJ seems like he's pretty set on using gateways for one purpose: Traveling. I find it vastly unlikely that, of the hundreds (even thousands possibly, including the Ashaman) who know the weave, none would have thought of using Gateways for other purposes.
We've had a lot of fun on wotmania coming up with fun uses for Gateways--ways they can create seemingly physical paradoxes, get around some of the laws of physics, etc.
The potential power of a gateway exceeds anything we've come across. Amongst these are:

The potential power of a gateway exceeds anything we've come across. Amongst these are:
- Limitless travel to anywhere (the usual)
- Perpetual motion machines = infinite source of energy
- Unlimited scouting ability from any viewpoint.
- Possible time travel, using gateways in the sense that people envision wormholes to enable time travel
To balance out all the dangers, all it requires is the maker of gateway to provide all the energy via chanelling. If it is just for traveling, not much strain. But if you use it to create a perpetual motion machine, it is just as if you are asking the channeler to do all the work, and when he can no longer do it, the gateway collapses, and the chaneller may get burned out.
This would prevent any dangerous, physics defying use, while still allow the usage of deathgate, or similar. I remember BS said some new useage of weaves will appear in the books, and he seemed to specifically mentioned using gateway to kill non-shadowspawn.

True, but that was in TAR. Notorious for having "different rules".

Even if they didn't use Gateways for aerial bombing,

But you don't mind slicing up a few birds??? How rude. *NM*

Alright then, open a gateway 80 paces up to check for birds, followed by the 40 pace gateway,
