I was actually really hoping that Galad would end up being the King of Carhien in ToM (after Elayne magically realized that two countries might be too much for her to rule.) That wouldn't have been a bad way to tie the two lands. As to whether they would accept him as King well... I don't really see them accepting anybody.
I also consider his probable relationship with the First of Mayene which would effectively bond Mayene to Andor through Carhien.
All that and the fact that The Children of the Light also use the Sun as their symbol.
In my mind it all seemed to go hand in hand.
