I thought Graendal's end in A Gathering Storm was superior to her end in Towers of Midnight. And there was simply no set up for Aran'gar's death at all. I don't see anything in Towers of Midnight that bears Graendal's signature, and the fact that Byar was apparently Compelled to do what he did is a major disservice to both characters. Plus, there's only one channeler at the ambush, and a male one at that.
Well, I'm probably wrong, but I get the feeling it should have been Aran'gar fighting Perrin.
